After confronting and charging the wasp, the ant made a sneak attack around the side and bit the wasp's leg! The wasp reacted by trying to break free (which it did with some tugging) and then flew away. Ant: 1, wasp: 0 !

F/v2 GREAT HUMAN (wasp) INTEREST STORY! I wonder if the ant was protecting some aphids - did you notice? What a terrific shot, and so is the other photo!

Thanks Mother Nature. Ahh, I didn't think of aphids. There might have been some on the underside of the leaf. I never noticed. I was just astonished by the bravery of the ant! :-)
