Description
This spider lives under a board walk in a nature park that I frequent. Twice now he has allowed me to get very, very close to him. I never thought I would have affection for a spider (being phobic) but this one has definitely charmed me.

F/L You're a woman after my own heart! Can't tell exactly what it is, but perhaps a Dolomedes tenebrosus? We have them in our house more often than not:>) Quite large, beautiful patterning. Again a bit hard to tell, but it appears to be a female:>) If so, she will be carrying her egg sack in her jaws until hatching time, then she'll find a vertical surface and attach her egg sac. She will remain with the spiderlings until they wander off to begin new lives. Gee, I love your work!
Doris Potter replied:
Thanks Mother Nature. I would love to see one carrying her egg sack. Thanks for your nice words. :-)

Great capture Doris, and I really love the story too! I felt the same way, before I got close to one! l/f

Charming, if I don't think too much ...... creepy, if I do. Either way, a terrific image!!

He is living up to his name by allowing you to photograph him and thus impress others with his beauty. Great shot!

F/L This is beautiful macro work! Of course it let you close for this lovely portrait:>) What I especially like is the details and how it shows the soft and fuzzy side of it's nature:>) WOW
