The Mount Royal Cemetery Annual Art Exhibition began in 2002 as a one time event to help mark the 150th anniversary of the Mount Royal Cemetery. The exhibition was such a resounding success that we celebrated its 11th anniversary this past August. Furthermore, it inspired us to establish an Annual Photography Exhibition which has also become very popular, and we celebrated that 6th anniversary this past September.
We normally have different themes for these exhibitions, but in 2012 we decided that both exhibitions would represent “The Spirit of the Mountain through colour in all its forms”. The exhibitions are held in the Mount Royal Funeral Complex with qualified juries selecting six winners in each exhibition.
Three years ago Peggy Regan of the Gryphon D’or Tea Room generously offered us the opportunity for the winners of our exhibitions to display some of their works in the Tea Room for a month. The...
