Description
I learned as a child that ants help peonies to bloom by biting through the waxy edges of the petals to help them unfurl. In fact the plant exudes a tasty substance that attracts the insects. Whether this is a true case of mutualism seems to be open for debate but I plan to stick with the theory that both parties benefit from this relationship. It sounds just plain nice!
