Description
I've never seen a Great Blue Heron taking a bath before. It went on for quite some time with lots of splashing and dunking and dog-like head and body shaking. I only wish I could have been closer.

Spectacular shot Doris! Their legs are so long that I can't imagine how they bend down to take a bath. Do you think the water was deep enough that it came up to his body?

Thanks Diane. That's a good question. I never thought about it and now I am wondering. I think the water was deep and I guess he was standing the whole time. I guess it will remain a mystery.

I was out shooting today thinking of you and your coopers hawk bath shot and here i log on & you have a blue herons bath shot LOL !!!! Takes time for birds to feel clean :) Great shot
