Description
There is quite a story behind this photo! A few days ago I was photographing daisies (and especially daisies with insects on them) in a vacant lot near my home. When I looked at my photos on the computer, there was an out-of-focus image of a flat insect that I identified as an immature Ambush Bug. Now I was anxious to get a better photo but ... how to find it!? I went back to the lot yesterday and scanned every daisy in sight (many, many!!). No luck! I went back today and found this little guy after 2 hours! It is still not as good a picture as I would like but at least this one is up on its legs and can be seen more distinctly than the first one.

There are so many colors in ambush bugs! Such cool creatures! "My" ambush bug has a lot of contrast built in naturally. Good of it to sit on a colorful flower too!

What fun! They look like they are smiling. My ambush bug photo on the black-eyed-Susan was one of the first photos I ever took with a DSL-R and remains one of my favorites. Great hunting! v

Hi Kathryn. I just took a look at your image and it is wonderful! Much better contrast than this one. I will keep on "hunting"! :-)
